Misty Bateman, Clatsop WORKS Student Internships & Cooperative Work Experience Programs Manager, shared an inspiring overview of the Clatsop Works
Intern Program, which builds a strong bridge from classroom learning to real-world careers. The program partners with local employes to provide paid summer
internships for students ages 16 and up, offering hands-on experience, career exploration, professional development, mentoring and resume-building opportunities.
Misty highlighted student placements with local businesses and organizations, noting that many interns are later hired by their host employers. Locally, the program
continues to grow. Since 2018 215 students have participated, with a record 123 applicants in 2025. Seaside High School stood out with strong participation and
attendance, including 19 applicants this past summer and 11 students hired. Clatsop Works internships are clearly more than just summer jobs; they are launching
pads for future careers.
